TrendHR is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with manual machining experience on behalf of our client, a precision machining operation serving industries such as aerospace, industrial manufacturing, energy, and specialized equipment. This position is ideal for machinists who enjoy project-based work, tight tolerances, and a variety of machining challenges rather than repetitive production machining. Machinists in this shop regularly work with both CNC and manual equipment to produce precision components for custom customer orders.
Set up and operate CNC machining centers and CNC lathes
Operate manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, and job specifications
Machine precision metal components to tight tolerances (often ±.0005")
Perform machine setups, tooling adjustments, and program offsets
Inspect parts using precision measuring tools
Work with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialty alloys
Maintain organized work areas and follow shop safety procedures
Collaborate with shop leadership to ensure customer and purchase order deadlines are met
Machinists in this role will work with a variety of equipment commonly found in precision machining job shops, including:
CNC machining centers
CNC turning centers / CNC lathes
Multi-axis machining equipment
CNC drill and tap machines
Engine lathes
Bridgeport-style vertical mills
Drill presses
Toolroom equipment
Surface grinders
Tool grinders
Deburring equipment
Vibratory tumblers and polishing tools
Parts cleaning systems
Optical comparators
Surface plates and height gauges
Micrometers and calipers
Precision inspection gauges and measurement tools
These machines are used to produce custom and precision components in a job-shop environment, requiring machinists to move between machines and setups depending on the project.
This is not a high-volume production shop.
Our client operates in a project-based machining environment, producing custom components for specific customer orders. Machinists must be comfortable managing multiple setups, custom parts, and varied machining work rather than running the same part continuously.
